The dramatic Corinth Canal is a must-see — a narrow channel carved through sheer rock walls connecting two seas. Nearby Loutraki is a charming coastal town worth exploring.

Do not miss the Archaeological Site of Heraion at Perachora — ancient ruins in a stunning coastal setting.

We personally loved the local cafe on the public beach of Limni Vouliagmenis as well as the beachside seafood restaurant Omega 3 — amazing food right by the water.

Practical Tips

Getting Around

Athens metro is excellent and covers most tourist areas. For the coast and venue area, Uber and FreeNow work well. For island hopping, book ferries at Ferryhopper.com — book early in peak season.

Weather in Late September

Expect daytime highs of 25-30 degrees C with plenty of sunshine. Evenings cool to a comfortable 18-20 degrees C. Sea temperature is still warm for swimming (around 24 degrees C). Rain is rare but possible — a light layer for evenings is a good idea.

Currency & Tipping

Greece uses the Euro. Credit cards are widely accepted in Athens and tourist areas. Tipping is appreciated but not obligatory — rounding up or leaving 5-10% at restaurants is customary.

Language

Greek is the official language, but English is widely spoken in Athens and all tourist areas. Learning a few words goes a long way — Yassas (hello), Efcharisto (thank you), Parakalo (please / you are welcome).
